Alice in Wonderland Hat

Client´s demand: I always wished me to have a top hat and admired the Mad Hatter´s hat from Alice in Wonderland. But it should be more elegant and be suitable for a special occasion.

We have chosen the color that fits to the client´s color type - dark teal (dark duck green). The client was pleased by this choice, because Mad Hatter has a green colored hat as well.

The hat body is from a top quality plain furfelt. It was blocked on an old wooden hat block. The hat we made is not so high like a classical top hat tend to be, but it still retains the elegancy and interesting shape.

Two variants were made - one with Fleur-de-lis

and the second one with a ribbon only.

The internal side has a gold lining and a decorative ribbon.

Late Summer Hats

At the end of this Summer we have managed one more shooting of wedding hats - 'hors-d'oeuvre is attached.

We were carried away through the old barn and these beautiful photos were created. I love contrasts!

Anywhere I go I am looking for hats. Our Summer Vacations are nowadays going this direction as well.


Paris
My last visit in Paris this year were influenced by The HAT Magazine tips, which I have gotten from my Prague millinery friend. I have visited most of the places that were suggested. Shops with millinery materials, hats, fabrics and haberdashery.

The most exciting was the visit of the hatblock maker attelier La Forme in rue Paul Lelong . We saw also the workroom, which is amazing full of light and smell of wood. Each hat block is hand made. We were lucky to see the blockmaker during his precise work. Unfortunately we could not make a Foto inside, so I uploaded only the entrance. :-)

Bon Marche - I like Bon Marche very much, especialy for the food. I woul say it is a French equivalent to the London's Harods. But the quility of the hats in Bon MArche disappointed me. Also the variety and design were unfortunately pure in comparison to the Harrods ones.

London Hat Week

I have promised to show some pictures from The London Hat Week 2015. It was already relative long time ago (March 2015), but better late than never. :-)

As a gift from my husband I have gotten a course by Jane Taylor that took place during the London Hat Week! It was amazing to meet Jane Taylor whose work I admire.

I can't forget two more courses, which were definitely not less interesting. The first one was with Dillon Wallwork who taught us to deal with spartre, an old-new material.
The spartre used to be made from wood, nowadays it is fabricated from paper stripes.

Dillon made a magic and at the end of the course we had a nice spartre fascinator.

This is the fascinator from him, mine had more simple form :-) 

The second course I had with Bridget Bailey. Her silk and sinamay flowers and fruits are taking your breath. So precise work I have never seen before!

Reasons

For me it is always difficult to find out the most suitable first sentence for an article. Of course it was the same with this blog. :-)

I should probably start with the reasons why has this blog on the world appeared? The reasons are simple and here:

1. to share my passion for hats with others
2. to show my friends my recent work pieces
3. to have an online diary of my hats experience
